The Ultimate Insult
So President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq today. He got an interesting reception. I can tell you from experience in the Middle East that getting a shoe thrown at you is not a compliment....but it is funny.
It was funny...I heard an analysis today that said the only reason that the guy is a hero is because Bush ducked. If he had hit Bush, then the guy would be in a lot more trouble, but the gesture was sufficient to make him a hero but not actually "violent" enough to make people despise him. In any case, I think the guy got his message across much stronger than he hoped.
